Magnet Families,
Welcome back from Fall Break! It was wonderful to start Tuesday morning back with students as we jump back into our Fall semester classes. There are many key announcements this week, so please review all of the items below carefully.

Progress reports for the first 9 weeks have been posted to the itsLearning Parent Portal. Please review progress with your student and set goals for how to finish the semester strong!

The deadline for AP Exams is coming soon.  Please see the attached letter (a hard copy of the same letter was originally delivered to students through AP classes in September) with all of the details from Mr. Williams and ensure you have registered for your AP exams by October 25th.
All 9th-11th grade students will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 16th. It is key that students be on time as this test cannot be made up on a later date. 11th grade students can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship and ALL students will gain access to personalized, free SAT prep through Khan Academy based on their scores. ALL 11th grade students should continue using Khan Academy to complete independent practice ahead of this important test. Good luck to all of our students!

Monster Dash is coming soon!  Please join us Friday, October 25th for our annual 5K Run/Walk & Mile Fun Run.  The 1/4 Mile Fun Run will begin at 5:45 and the 5K Run/Walk will begin at 6:00.  All proceeds benefit RMSST.  The deadline for a guaranteed tshirt has passed, however you can still register online at https://www.active.com/conyers-ga/running/distance-running-races/magnet-monster-dash-2019 . You can also pick up a hard copy of the registration form in the Magnet office.  Please encourage your extended family and coworkers to sign up for the race also!

3.Congratulations to the Magnet Student Council for winning two awards at the recent District Rally for the Georgia Association of Student Councils. The Magnet student council won best in the district for "Outstanding Recruitment and Advertising". They also won "Outstanding Spring/Summer Project" for the GASC district.

4.TEDx accepted all 5 of our TEDx speakers that spoke during the spring semester! Below are the links if you want to view the videos at home. We are in the planning stage for this year's TEDx event and hope these speakers will inspire even more students to prepare talks to submit this year!

There are so many extracurricular opportunities and support options at RMSST! Please review the attached Teams, Clubs, and Tutorial schedule to make sure you are aware of the opportunities available. Please note that extended tutorial on Tuesdays has started.  Students can stay after school for tutorial with a teacher and then  move to the Learning Commons at 4:30pm to continue working through 6pm as needed. This option is only available on Tuesdays. Please note that any student staying after school for an activity on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday must have a ride to pick them up at the end time of that club, team, or tutorial.
We closed out September with two key recognitions on campus.
  • Thank you for supporting CapeDay 2019! Cape Day is an annual tradition at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta that gives the community a chance to show support for our superhero patients who battle illnesses and injuries every day.
  • I also want to thank those of you who wore yellow to bring awareness to acknowledge Suicide Prevention Awareness.  The month of September was dedicated to suicide prevention awareness in the United States. However, we must all work to prevent suicide year round. Please know that your teachers, counselors, and administrators are here as a resource.
